PLASKIN |ARBOR BOOKS |
I’m John Halas,
a professional
memoir writer,
ghostwriter and
editor for hire
who also manages
a team of
ghostwriters.
I am an expert memoir writer, which I consider as books of “personal
experience/lessons
learned”. Such
books are
private
narrations.
You must
understand that
writing a memoir
requires
concerted
effort,
knowledge, and
ardor. It’s a
long drawn
process. Anyone
who tells you
otherwise isn’t
trustworthy. I’m
sure many people
you know are
desirous of
authoring a
book, but fail
to carry it out.
Why? Simply
because memoir
writing is time
consuming and is
a gradual
process.
Planning,
researching,
interviewing,
reading,
writing, editing
after giving the
final touches to
the manuscript,
takes time.
Nothing other
than time is
required to
convert your
most fascinating
incidents of
life into a
noteworthy
memoir.
Publication
At Memoir Ghostwriter, I have
been writing and helping people
publish their memoirs for years.
Once your memoir has been
written and edited, we can
submit it to a vast range of
publication networks, and in
both printed and eBook formats.
For instance, Amazon.com sells
both printed memoirs and memoirs
that users can download to their
Kindle eBook reader or read
online. If you want to publish,
I can help you through the ins
and outs of memoir publication.
But first I need to write your
memoirs.
How It Works
Essentially, you tell me the
main points of the story. Since
the writing process can involve
checking, double-checking, and
reorganizing, this content may
change. Perhaps you stumble
across an old photo album with a
valuable story behind it.
Whatever your particular
circumstances, I am able to
adapt and integrate whatever
content you feel needs telling
in whatever order you prefer. At
the same time, I am more than
happy to share my
recommendations and feedback.
The best part? If you don’t
want to, you don’t have to pick
up a pen or pencil or type
anything. I can do all the
writing for you. If you want to
use other forms of communication
in addition or instead of phone
interviews, any or all of the
following are available.
Communication
We can talk to you across a wide
variety of communication. A
document containing my progress
is always at your fingertips,
ready and willing to enjoy
whatever additions you feel are
necessary. It’s private, so you
can be assured none of your
story will leak out on the
Internet. You provide me with a
few details and I begin
constructing the outline and
asking follow-up questions and
ultimately writing the story. We
can communicate in many ways.

Everyone has a
book inside them
...just waiting to be
written. Maybe you've
considered writing a memoir, a
motivational guide, a family
history, or a book about your
company, but never knew how to get
started. My process makes it
fast and simple.
I outline the story, interview
you from start to finish,
tape-record it all, and then write
the entire book, delivering a
finished manuscript, ready for
publication.
The result is a lasting
legacy for you and your
family. And it can become a
reality, with no time
wasted.
How it works
You tell me your
idea. We discuss
it in detail.
Then we begin a
series of phone
conversations
that map out the
book. It's easy
and fun. I help
you focus and
organize your
thoughts. We
define your
vision and
outcome. You
provide
materials you
already have,
such as notes,
diaries, and
background
research. I
produce a
comprehensive
outline--a
storyboard--that
captures the
content and
structure of
your book.
Then, over a
period of
approximately 30
days, we dictate
the entire
manuscript using
the outline as
our guide. I
guide you
through each
chapter by
following a
customized
script I prepare
for the process.
I complete all
necessary
research (which
can include
speaking with
other people key
to your story.)
And finally, I
create a
narrative text
that captures
your unique
voice and style.
The
result is a book
of approximately
250 pages, a
finished product
that is edited,
copy-edited,
mistake-free,
and delivered to
you in five
months or less.
Now it's ready
for commercial
or
self-publication.
How much it costs
Writing a book is a decision that requires a significant commitment of time and energy. The memoir, or non-fiction book, I create is a dramatic, detailed account of your life, or work, which takes months to ghostwrite and edit. My fee ranges from $100,000 for a short book of 100 pages or less to $150,000 - for a standard length book of 250-300 pages.
The final fee depends on my estimate of the time involved, the complexity of the research, and the project's deadline.
Most of my books are in the 250-page range, a perfect length for commercial publication. In addition, there's a separate fee for the Book Proposal, a 40-page summary of the book necessary for sale to a traditional publisher.
In the preparation of both the book and the proposal, all of our conversations by phone or in person are recorded.
My fee covers all transcription costs, the editing, copy-editing, writing, research, and follow up.
Expertly
written,
powerful
and dramatic,
your published
book becomes a
gift you can
share with
everyone.

How Does Ghost Writing and Comprehensive Editing Work?
Many books that are written today are actually ghostwritten. ABI
editors and ghostwriters produce the manuscript based on either a
raw manuscript, rough draft, notes, concepts, audio tapes, telephone
conversations, face-to-face interviews, printed information or other
materials provided by you.
Get a Major Publishing Contract! Get a Literary Agent!
After the ghostwriting process, the manuscript can either be sent
out directly to agents and publishers, or it can be turned into a
self-published book which can in turn be marketed directly to
bookstores and sold online. ABI has sold many of its books to agents
and publishers. One book was picked up by Prentice Hall in a bidding
war when John Wiley didn't act fast enough. Another book was picked
up by St. Martin's Press, and the author was given an additional
two-book publishing contract.
Who Owns the Rights to My Book?
ONLY with Arbor Books do you:
• Keep 100% of ALL the profits from your book.
• Keep 100% of ALL the royalties from your book.
• Keep 100% of ALL the rights (including copyright and movie rights)
to your book.
What's the Difference Between ABI and Our
Competitors?
• ABI is an elite, award-winning, Manhattan-based book publisher
with over 20 years of publishing experience.
• Our clients have become No. 1 bestsellers.
• Our clients have appeared on Good Morning America, Montel, The CBS
Evening News, ABC World News Tonight, Unsolved Mysteries, Cold Case
Files, The View, The O'Reilly Factor, Howard Stern, MSNBC and CNBC.
• Our books have been reviewed by The New York Times, the Chicago
Tribune, the Los Angeles Times and Publishers Weekly.
• We were named one of the top 10 book designers/packagers by
Writer's Digest.
• We teach publishing seminars at The Learning Annex, The Seminar
Center, Hofstra University, St. John's University, Pratt Institute
and City University of New York.
How Much Does It Cost?
Ghostwriting a book generally runs between $8,000 to
$45,000—depending upon the complexity and word count. A complete
line-editing job runs about half that. The job is broken down into
payments which are linked to the completion of the chapters in the
manuscript. For those clients who wish to engage writers who are New
York Times best-selling authors and Pulitzer Prize winners, prices
range from $50,000 and up. And we accept MasterCard and Visa.
